# Heat methodology

Exactly how the race is built. Which pools can enter, which tokens stay out, how Heat is computed.

This page explains how the race works, with the figures the site uses today. We tune them from time to time; when we do, this page changes with them.

## 1. Which pools can race

A pool enters the race only if all of these are true:

* it is a Pons bonding-curve pool or a Uniswap v4 pool (Uniswap v2 and v3 pools count for prices and volume, but they don't race);
* we know when it was created, and it is between 3 minutes and 12 hours old;
* it has a valid price;
* its last trade is less than 10 minutes old;
* it has at least 5 swaps over the last 24 hours;
* it is not a pool with 5 buys or more and no sell at all over 24 hours;
* its depth (the liquidity within 2% of the current price) is at least $500, when we know it.

## 2. Which tokens stay out

The race is a list of new tokens, not of new pools. A token is kept out when any of the following applies.

It is not new. One of its pools existed before our relay started reading the chain, its oldest known pool is more than 12 hours old, or its contract was created more than 12 hours ago. Tokenized stocks, major assets and currencies (recognized by their symbol and name) never race either. Fresh pools of older tokens are listed under **New pools** instead.

It imitates someone. Its name or symbol imitates TRNCH, or copies ETH, WETH or USDG outside their real contracts. See [Security](/security.md).

It is a test. Its name or symbol contains "test" or "bundler".

Its supply is concentrated. The developer holds more than 20% of the supply, or the top 10 holders hold more than 90%. Holder data comes from GeckoTerminal. A token flagged as a honeypot by GeckoTerminal would also be kept out, but GeckoTerminal does not provide that flag for Robinhood Chain today, so TRNCH does not claim to detect honeypots.

It can't be traded. TRNCH regularly asks KyberSwap, then LI.FI, for a quote to buy 5 USDG of the token with 5% slippage. With no route, the token leaves the race. Tokens whose pool is a deep enough Uniswap v4 pool count as tradable without that check. The sell side is not tested.

It rugged. A token whose price fell by 90% or more over 1 hour, 6 hours or 24 hours (only windows the pool has actually lived) moves to the **Rugged today** list.

One token gets one row. When a token has several pools in the race, its row shows the hottest one.

## 3. Momentum

Momentum is a score from 0 to 100. It is computed on ranks, never on raw values: for each signal, every pool gets its percentile rank among all the pools in the race, so one token that already did x50 can't flatten the scale for everyone else.

| Signal                                                                                                        | Weight |
| ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------ |
| Trader acceleration: unique traders over the last 15 minutes, minus unique traders over the 15 minutes before | 30% |
| Price change over 5 minutes                                                                                   | 20%    |
| Price change over 1 hour                                                                                      | 25%    |
| Price change over 6 hours                                                                                     | 15%    |
| Volume over the last hour, divided by the pool's depth | 10% |

A change window longer than the pool's life counts as zero: a 40-minute-old pool has no 1-hour or 6-hour change yet.

Two adjustments follow. First, exhaustion: a pool up 100% or more over 24 hours whose 1-hour change is flat or negative has its momentum divided by 3. Race pools are under 12 hours old, so this rule has no 24-hour window to act on today. Second, age: momentum is multiplied by a factor that goes from 1 for a brand-new pool down to 0.5 at 12 hours.

## 4. Trust

Trust is a multiplier between 0.5 and 1, computed from GeckoTerminal's token data. It starts at 1 and can only go down.

| Reading                                                     | Penalty |
| ----------------------------------------------------------- | ------- |
| Top 10 holders own more than 60% of the supply              | 0.15    |
| Top 10 holders own more than 80% (replaces the line above) | 0.30 |
| The developer holds more than 5%                            | 0.10    |
| The developer holds more than 10% (replaces the line above) | 0.25 |
| The token is not verified on GeckoTerminal | 0.05 |

The factor never goes below 0.5. A missing reading costs nothing, and a token with no data at all keeps a factor of 1. The token's Info panel lists the readings that lowered its trust.

## 5. Heat

**Heat = momentum x trust**, rounded to one decimal. The race is sorted by Heat, highest first, and the colored stripe on each row shows its temperature.

The price changes, depth, volume and last trade shown on each row are read from the pools, live. The 1-minute change compares the current price with the close of the last minute that traded before the window, which starts at the beginning of the previous minute (60 to 120 seconds ago). With no trade since, the change is 0. The 1-minute change is shown on screen only; it is not part of the Heat.

## 6. The tabs

**All** is the race described above: new tokens only. The age shown is the token's age, from its oldest known pool or its contract, whichever is older.

**New pools** is GeckoTerminal's list of the newest pools on Robinhood Chain, refreshed every minute. It includes fresh pools of older tokens, and the age shown is the pool's age. The same noise filters apply: only Pons curves and Uniswap v4 pools, at least 3 minutes old, at least 5 traders over 24 hours, not 5 buys with no sell, at least $1,000 of liquidity, no imitation, no test token, and the same holder limits.

**Favorites** shows the tokens you starred. Favorites are stored on your device.

**Has socials** keeps the tokens that list an X account, a Telegram group or a website in GeckoTerminal's data. It combines with the other tabs.

**Live** (the Activity feed) shows the chain's swaps of $5 or more, as our relay reads them: all tokens, stocks and older tokens included. Only tokens imitating TRNCH, ETH, WETH or USDG are removed. A token without a name yet shows as a short address until its name arrives. The "swaps this minute" counter is a minimum: it counts the feed lines received during the last minute, once the page has listened for a full minute.

## 7. This week

The line "This week" counts the new tokens that entered the race and passed $100K of volume in their first 24 hours (all trades on their pools, not volume made on TRNCH). A token counts once, even with two pools that qualify. The line shows three figures.

* How many tokens qualified.
* The delay: the time between a pool's creation on the chain and the moment our relay read that creation, live. For each token, the first qualifying pool the relay saw this way counts, and the line shows the median across tokens, never the average. A pool the relay did not see being created (read back after a restart, or a bonding curve, which has no creation event) still counts in the number of tokens and in the volume, but not in the delay.
* Their total volume: the sum of the first-24-hour volumes of the qualifying pools.

It covers the seven UTC days that end the day before yesterday, since a pool created yesterday has not finished its first 24 hours. It is computed every night at 00:10 UTC, and only shows when at least 10 tokens qualify.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Heat describes activity. It is not a safety rating, a recommendation or a promise. A token can pass every filter on this page and still go to zero in an hour. Read the [Risk Disclosure](/legal/risk.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.trnch.fun/heat/methodology.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
