# The game

Season 0. Five cards, one captain, a daily round and a draw at midnight UTC.

> **Five cards. One captain. Jackpot on the table.**

{% hint style="info" %}
**Coming soon.** The game opens together with the contract that will hold the pot. This page describes the Season 0 rules. The detailed rules, the entry price, the split of the pot and who can play are published before the game opens, and they can change until then.
{% endhint %}

One round per UTC day. You lock your hand whenever you want. The draw is at midnight UTC, and each card scores the real price move of its token between your lock and that draw. The top of the board splits the pot.

## Build your hand

Five cards from your own collection, and all five score. One wears the star: the captain scores x1.5 on top of its rarity, and it can never be changed once you lock.

You lock your hand whenever you want during the day, in one go. Each card's starting price is taken at that moment, and the time of the lock is set by our server, not by your device. Lock early and you are exposed for longer. Lock late and you are exposed for less. That call is yours.

## The score

A 1% price move is worth 100 points, and points can be negative. Each card scores the price move of its token between your lock and the draw, times its rarity multiplier, and x1.5 for the captain. Your score for the round is the sum of your five cards.

| Card      | Multiplier                 |
| --------- | -------------------------- |
| Common    | x1.00                      |
| Uncommon  | x1.12                      |
| Rare      | x1.20                      |
| Legendary | x1.30                      |
| Captain | x1.5, on top of its rarity |

The multiplier is symmetric. A legendary at +10% scores +1,300 points and at -10% it costs you 1,300, where a common scores +1,000 or -1,000. A rare card is a bigger bet, not insurance.

Negative hands still rank. When everything dumps, the least red hand can win the round outright. Ranking is relative: green is optional.

### A sample hand

| Card           | Rarity    | Price move | Points |
| -------------- | --------- | ---------- | ------ |
| DOGO           | Common    | +3.2%      | +320   |
| HOOKR          | Common    | -0.6%      | -60    |
| CASHCAT        | Uncommon  | -1.8%      | -202   |
| TRNCH          | Rare      | +2.1%      | +252   |
| PENGU, captain | Legendary | +4.6%      | +897   |
| Hand           |           |            | +1,207 |

Fixed figures, for illustration only: these are not real price moves. TRNCH has no token yet, and any token using the TRNCH name is not ours.

### The prices used

Each card needs two prices: one when you lock, one at the draw. Both are medians across the token's pools that hold enough liquidity, never a router's quote. A price that is too old, or that our sources disagree on, is not used: no price is better than a doubtful one. When a token has only one pool deep enough, that pool sets its price. The exact sources and thresholds are published with the rules.

## The pot

At midnight UTC the board freezes and the paid ranks split the day's pot in USDG.

* Taking part in a round may require purchasing an entry, called a ticket in the app. In Season 0, a ticket is 10 USDG.
* Entries fund the round's pot, which TRNCH may seed.
* The last paid rank gets at least its 10 USDG back. The number of paid ranks follows from the pot: only as many as the sliding scale can cover at that floor.
* Below the last paid rank, the entry is lost. There are losers: an entry is not refunded if your hand does not finish among the paid ranks.

| Rank                     | Share of the day's pot                      |
| ------------------------ | ------------------------------------------- |
| 1                        | 40%                                         |
| 2                        | 18%                                         |
| 3                        | 10%                                         |
| 4                        | 6%                                          |
| 5                        | 4.5%                                        |
| 6 to 10                  | Sliding                                     |
| 11 to the last paid rank | Sliding, never under the price of one entry |
| Below the last paid rank | Entry lost |

### A round

| When               | Step | What happens                                                                |
| ------------------ | ---- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Your call | Lock | You pick the moment. Starting prices are taken then, and the hand is final. |
| Until midnight UTC | Run | Your five cards track their tokens, live. |
| 00:00 UTC | Draw | The board freezes for everyone at once, and USDG pays out. |

### Where entries go

| Share | Goes to                                                                 |
| ----- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| 80% | The day's pot, paid the moment the round closes. |
| 10% | The weekly pot, ranked on the points you stack over 7 days. Top 3 only. |
| 10%   | TRNCH's treasury, which runs the platform.                              |

## The weekly board

The game has two boards, no more. The day's board starts again every night after the draw. The weekly board adds up your points over seven days and resets every Monday. Only the top 3 of the week are rewarded, from the weekly pot. There is no entry floor there: the weekly ranking is a bonus, not a second ticket.

Seven entries on seven days in a row earn a streak pack. A day without an entry drops you out of the weekly ranking for the current week, unless you buy the streak back.

## Paid options

| Option              | Season 0 price          | What it does                                                                                                                                                                                     |
| ------------------- | ----------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| Change a card | 10 USDG, once per round | Replaces one card of a locked hand. The new card scores from the moment of the change, with no catch-up. The captain can never be changed. 90% of the price goes to the day's pot, 10% to TRNCH. |
| Buy the streak back | 10 USDG | Keeps you in the weekly ranking after a missed day, with no points won or lost that day. It goes to TRNCH. |

## Your first hand

You need five cards to play. A new account gets 5 cards of random rarity, enough for a first hand. Posting the pre-filled message from your linked X account (older than 30 days) earns a second free pack, with at least one uncommon. After that, cards come from your volume (see [Packs and cards](/packs-and-cards.md)), and every hand you play earns a gift pack when you lock it.

## What's next

Cards will be mintable as NFTs for free, and what you stack and fuse today will count.

{% hint style="info" %}
Nothing on TRNCH promises winnings. Card scores follow real prices you do not control, and an entry can be lost entirely. Read the [Risk Disclosure](/legal/risk.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.trnch.fun/the-game.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
